El Portillo - Parque Nacional del Teide
El Portillo Visitors' Centre Garden

This garden covers some 4 hectares next to the Visitors' Centre, created to exhibit, care for and breed the native flora of the Teide National Park. More than 75% of the higher plants are represented. Some species, like the Teide violet, do not acclimatise to this area as they need greater altitude.
The garden is sign-posted and equipped with laboratories with germination chambers and germ plasma banks. They carry out programmes of recovery for endangered species.
